Why Consider the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program?
Mindfulness practices have become more accepted throughout the Western world, in part, because of the scientific research and validation that has proven their effectiveness. People who have had direct experience with mindfulness practices didn’t need to wait for the “proof” because there is no substitute for direct knowing.
Mindfulness practice teaches emotional self-regulation which helps to heal the nervous system and hormonal systems. Health improves as a direct result of mindfulness practice. Interestingly, other faculties also open up such as the increased ability to experience compassion; compassion for ourselves and others.
Compassion opens our hearts to allow acceptance of our own limitations and the limitations of others as we evolve on our spiritual path, the path of life.
The Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program was designed and implemented by two spiritual leaders of the world today: Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Together, they have selected a diverse group of advanced teachers, each bringing his or her own strength to the program. This provides a rich texture and many voices to the practice of mindfulness.
As Thich Nat Han said, the era of the personal guru is over and the future guru is the community or sanga. A community of teachers holds each other accountable, especially when the threat of spiritual egoism looms large in many guru-based organizations.
