Autonomic Nervous System

The part of the human nervous system that controls involuntary body functions that typically operate without conscious awareness, such as breathing, digestion, heart rate, blood vessel constriction, glandular secretions.

The autonomic nervous system is comprised of the sympathetic nervous system (the fight or flight response) and the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest).
